Britta has worked for Kessels & Associates since April 2006 and was employed for her skills as a systems ecologist and her GIS software skills (Arc View & Auto CAD) in relation to mapping natural environments, gained in both Germany and Australia. Britta has previously worked for the Werre Water Association (a Statutory Corporation for flood protection) and the Environmental Institute of Hoxter (a private consultancy for ecology and environmental planning).  Her role included the creation of several action plans for the natural development of river systems in accordance with the EC Water Framework Directive, the implementation of long-term vegetation survey plots in accordance with the EC Habitats Directive, as well as environmental impact studies, compensation plans, and biotope protection and networking concepts. She also worked for the Conservation Commission of the Northern Territory, Australia, where she was primarily involved in collecting and assembling data to produce a vegetation map of Nitmiluk National Park.

Since working for Kessels & Associates Britta has become an expert Arc GIS technician and botanist with a proficient knowledge of New Zealand's flora.  She has been involved in several large ecological assessment projects such as GIS mapping, environmental impact studies, restoration plans for private landowners, regional councils and energy companies.  Survey and habitat mapping of indigenous forest, scrublands, wetlands and avifauna habitats is Britta's speciality.  Britta also has carried out numerous restoration plans for wetlands and terrestrial habitats for many clients throughout the North Island, including the Department of Conservation, QEII National Trust, Waikato District Council and Environment Waikato.
