WEL Networks Ltd - Te Uku Windfarm (2006 -
2008)
Kessels & Associates conducted an ecological assessment of
the Te Uku Windfarm site near Raglan for WEL Networks Ltd. (the
farm is now owned and operated by Meridian Energy). The
survey covered both terrestrial and aquatic systems. Surveys
included vegetation, bats, birds, freshwater fish and
macroinvertebrates, producing a detailed and comprehensive report
for the client. Robust evidence was produced for Council
hearings, including a comprehensive wetland restoration plan,
carcass searching methods and aquatic biota survey protocols.
We also assisted in the development of an MoU between the client
and the Department of Conservation.
