 Lamprey
As part of the River Flood Management for Environment Waikato, Kessels & Associates have been undertaking fish surveys using a backpack electric fishing machine, in the Waipa and Mangatutu Catchments. Lamprey (Geotria australis) have been caught in these catchment for the last two consecutive years. Lamprey are a diadromous species which spend part of their lifecycles in freshewater and part in the ocean.
